HOW TO COMMENT TEXTS

  • THE READINGS  MANDATORY MUST MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS

  • First reading

  •

  • Must be  perform a normal, faster reading first, such as simple readers. It is an approximation, a more intuitive than analytical reading to delve into history.

  •

  • Second lecture

  •

  • Next, notes are taken on everything that we consider pertinent, with a  second and third reading (if they deem it necessary), more detailed, reflecting on the aspects that we have to comment on. They should consider basing their evaluation on the following points.

  •

  • Point 1: The form

  •

  • The form consists of how the writing has been carried out, such as: the sound of the text, the rhythm, the dialogues, the language, the tone, the descriptions, the characters, the spelling errors, etc. It is simply taking what they think could be improved with a different writing.

  • It is recommended that this analysis be done aloud, to detect the loudness, if there are bad sounding words, similar, repeated, if the punctuation is adequate,  etc. The language is understandable, corresponds to the style and characters, etc.

  • Anything that catches your attention in the way the text is written has a place in this section.

  • REMEMBER:  highlight what you think is better written and what you think could be improved and why (always constructive criticism).

  •

  • Point 2: The content

  •

  • In the second aspect of the comment is to value the story itself. What counts, what you have understood and what has made you feel, what it has contributed to you, what you think of its characters (evolution, characterization, their reactions, their participation in the story), what you think of the plot, etc.

  • As in the previous point, in this you will also have to highlight the aspect that you liked the most and the one that you think could be improved (and why in both cases).

  •

  • Point 3: Personal comment

  •

  • The aspect of the comment is personal and can be used to add a note, an idea, a note, a suggestion. Here you have the opportunity to express to your partner about what his story has made you feel, in terms of your emotions, memories or any experience that he thinks is related to the text or that you think may be useful to him. This space is free, always remember to maintain constructive criticism if it has not met your expectations.

  •

  • To take into account:

  •

  • SHOW VRS COUNT:  Remember that what is obvious is told, and sensations, emotions, etc. are shown.

  • STORY OR SCENE: Depending on what is requested, be it a scene (something that happens in a certain place / time) or a story (it can contain different scenarios and time jumps), due to the space, the author must know how to take advantage of the space and knowing how to condense the text. Take into account if it is understandable and there are no loose ends.

  • SETTING: If it fills the atmosphere that corresponds to the exposed text, if the descriptions, the dialogues are complemented without abrupt cuts, etc.

  • CONSISTENCY: According to the style, genre of the text, it must be consistent with it, either using the resources that each genre requests and agrees with the story and characters.

  • CONSTRUCTION OF PHRASES, SENTENCES AND PARAGRAPHS, RHYTHM: Take into account, the loudness, the punctuation and the extension. If it is used to speed up or slow down the story. It is important that the reading is smooth, it is not burdened by errors in this area.

  • THE SOUND: Take into account if while you read (for evaluation, preferably aloud), the text does not have stumbling blocks, there are no bad-sounding words, repeated, incomprehensible phrases, rhymes that are not on purpose, etc.

  • POV - POINT OF VIEW: Check if the choice has been correct and well applied for the text presented. A story can vary if the narrator is in the first person, or on the contrary, an omniscient third person. Each type has its own rules, so check if it is being applied correctly.

  • DIALOGUES: Check if these are correct in terms of their format. If these are adequate, if they correspond favorably to each character, etc.

  • DESCRIPTIONS: Space is at a premium, so this look should be appropriate for the writing challenge. You should see if the author makes proper use of them. If they are very flowery, flat, use clichés, etc.

  • STRUCTURE: Every story, scene or any fictional literary writing will contain  introduction (presentation of the characters / plot), knot (conflict) and unlocking (resolution is closed or open). Check if each one has the proper presentation, balance, quick closures, etc.

  • HISTORY AND CONFLICT: the stories / scenes must yes  or if  contain a history, conflicts. Discussions, monologues, reflections, etc., should be avoided in these.

  • INTEREST AND CHARACTERS: Did it capture your attention to continue reading? Are your characters attractive / interesting? Evaluate if the story was enjoyable or on the contrary you did not feel a connection with the story and / or characters. Try to be objective and empathetic in your conclusions.

  • PERSPECTIVE: Rate as a reader, if the story / story / scene fulfilled your expectations, the emotions it made you feel.

  • VOLUNTARY READINGS: Although it is requested that you try to evaluate all the texts read, you can take some of the points detailed here for your comments. The mandatory readings (3) must contain  the three points of the evaluation, in the best way you can express yourself according to your reading / writing experience.

  •   Do not forget that behind each text there is a real person. Treat her with the respect she deserves. Enjoy your readings.
